Is ancient philosophy relevant in today’s world? Yes!
📖 When my daughter gifted me a volume of Seneca’s Letters, I never imagined it would spark a 64-day odyssey of songwriting and reflection. Each day, I read one of Seneca’s letters and composed a piece of music inspired by its themes. I’m not usually drawn to “pop stoicism,” but I do love philosophy… writing poetry and AI assisted songwriting. Despite Seneca’s complicated history, his insights into resilience and self-awareness are surprisingly applicable today.
I also did a deep dive into Suetonius’s The Twelve Caesars for historical context—and found myself sketching illustrations to accompany the music. In my mind, all of this could one day unfold as an opera or musical in an ancient Roman square (though it might stretch over five hours!😜).
Anyway, the result is “Seneca the Musical,” a project that blends philosophy, personal discipline, and artistic exploration. I’d love to share it with you:

I hope you’ll find something meaningful—perhaps even a spark of inspiration for your own creative endeavors. Feel free to share any feedback or thoughts!
I’m not sure how well this will resonate for people who haven’t read the letters. Let me know?
